We’ve had our first real snow here at Olallie Daylily Gardens. It was one of those nice light fluffy snows, that hangs on the trees and is easy to clear, so beside the cold, it’s all quite beautiful.

And of course, a nice picture of the field in peak bloom helps to remind us of things to come!

I’ve said this before (probably every year) but it’s miraculous that all that beauty lies dormant under the frozen landscape.

I have put together a number of daylilies for naming (see below).

I also have gift certificates to order.

Lastly I’ve been working on ceramic prints of drawings my mother did of daylilies years ago.

And while I have yet to start work on the 2026 catalog, now is a good time to get anyone you know on my list for 2026.

If you have questions, feel free to email me

Daylilies for Naming

There is a nice batch of new daylilies for naming. They seem to mostly be red shades, which I guess was my focus this past season. Recipient will get a certificate in time for Christmas, and receive a blooming size plant in the spring, for 2026 bloom. The named daylily gets registered with the American Daylily Society and will have that name forevermore.

Gift Certificates

Not sure what the gardener in your life would like for Christmas? Gift Certificates are a great choice. They allow the recipient to pick what they want and never expire.

One of the activities I do in the winter is ceramics. I’ve been working on reworking line drawings of daylilies that my mother did into 6″X6″ tiles. Here are a couple of examples. I will be making more as well as tiles of some of my mother’s other drawings.

These will be available for purchase. They will have cork backing and include a hanger for hanging on the wall.

The cost will be $30 plus shipping (I expect $15.00).

They’ll have artist’s signature, date and tile number.

I do guarantee intact arrival too of course

Please let me know if you’re interested, but I’ll also do a special email soon with some of the first batch of tiles

I know you are all wondering about Dante. He’s doing great. He still insists on going out every morning with the dogs. But now with the snow he doesn’t stay out long, as he’s doesn’t have much to explore.

In fact I watched him get halfway to the greenhouse in the snow and give up!

He catches me a mouse every once in a while to show he’s pulling his weight and sleeps on my lap to provide me some love and quality time.

So I’ve seen two Woolly Bears that are all black. I guess that means it’s going to be an extra cold winter!?

Dante is curious about the little fella too.

After all that adventuring, what’s a cat to do but take a long winter nap!
