We were in a “flash drought” for a bit. It was hot and the humidity was low so it kind of sucked the moisture out of the soil. But of course daylilies are so resilient, it didn’t phase them.
We had a nice soaking rain last night so everything is happy(especially me).
We are all caught up with mail order, so an order received by Friday will be shipped the following Monday!
If you have questions or concerns about your order, feel free to email me
We still have plenty of color print catalogs if you know someone that would enjoy one: CATALOG REQUEST

| LANDSCAPE MIX
Each fall I clear out beds that have extra or duplicate colors and types. This year is no exception. I’ll have a really interesting mix available this year. The plants come unlabelled, but are an interesting mix of colors and bloom times. This is a great way to fill in bare spots, plant hard to manage banks or just to add to the selection of daylilies you grow.
Minimum order of 10 plants, with generous bonuses given!
These won’t be shipped until mid September, right after they’re dug

| These are two of my mainstay August blooming daylilies. Abalone (left): is a pink/cream bicolor with nicely formed recurved flowers, and Wispy Morn (right) is a yellow-melon open flowered type. Both bloom into September here in Vermont |

| This is my first year really growing Sunflowers. And I’m happy to report, I love them! I started tem from seed right in the ground, and at first I wasn’t sure they were even going to grow. They are also one of those plants that for a long time you’re kind of “meh” about them as they take quite sometime to reach their potential, but when they do wow! I had some grow to 10 feet! I will say I liked the smaller types better, they work better in my mixed plantings. And as you can see, the large ones get so heavy they fall over.
The deep red Sunflowers are quite interesting too. I found that the dark flowers against a bright sky were hard to see, but on overcast days or as cut flowers these are spectacular.
Most of these sunflowers were purchased from Baker Creek Rare Seeds |

| Here’s an example of a couple of Marigold species. On the left is a typical bedding Marigold and on the right Tagetes pumilla ‘Lemon Gem’. I’m including this picture, as I like to foliage texture they produce. They have a sort of soft fabric appearance which adds a nice “feel” to the annual beds |

I don’t post many pictures of my dogs, as Dante is the star of the show, but as supporting characters they are largely under represented. Always at hand to chase Rabbits and greet customers they are wonderful companions.
Here Jack drinks water from a leaky pipe. I supply them with plenty of water, but as this is the freshest, it’s always their favorite. |

| Dante used to go into the farmhouse for extra food, those days are past, but he still checks on occasion on the off chance there’s some food. He’s framed by two of my favorite Cottage Garden perennials. One the left Verbascum chaixii (yellow spike) and on the left Campanula trachelium (blue). These have a tendency to seed in, but not too vigorously and add splashes of color throughout the field and property. |
