Elfin: Developed by Dr Arlow Stout in the 1940’s
Last week, I wasn’t able to do a newsletter, as I was sick. I believe it was a virus, but I’m up and right as rain now.

Speaking of rain, we had a nice couple of days which has gotten everything growing and budding up nicely.

There are few extra early blooms coming out, as you can see above.

The Siberian Iris are about to pop too.

The Garden House will be open for the first time this weekend.

I’ve got lots of interesting, potted perennials that I grew from seed.

Some are quite rare too.

Saturday-Sunday 10-5pm

I’ve still got plenty of free color catalogs for your gardening friends and they make a nice house warming gift. Just send an email!

Plains Iris: This is always the first Iris to bloom. The blooms are fine and delicate, as is the foliage. But the plant is plenty hardy. I have these growing in full sun and they do well there.

I grew a number in pots and overwintered them that way.

so I have some of those to sell. They will do knocked out of their pots and shipped bareroot.

One of my focuses has been dark, pigmented scapes. They add some real drama in the garden. Most of these are in short supply. But I have a couple that are good to start with, and more should be available later in the season.

Olallie Brian’s Birthday: very fast increaser, some rebloom.

17-08: Incredibly dark scapes, tall and striking

I set up my Hummingbird feeder, and was quite entertained by their antics. Maybe it was a little shower cleaning action.
