Olallie Daylily Gardens June 11: Daylilies almost blooming, Iris blooming

At this point, it’s a lot of hurry up and wait. There are so many buds, but not a lot of blooms. The Siberian Iris are almost in full bloom. And there are a fair number of extra earlies in bloom. And various perennials are popping up and blooming. The Garden House will be open for the this weekend. I’ve got lots of interesting, potted perennials that I grew from seed. Saturday-Sunday 10-5pm I’ve still got plenty of free color catalogs for your gardening friends and they make a nice house warming gift. Just send an email! |
| 5-21: I really like this early dark scape cultivar. The pale yellow spider-like blooms contrast nicely with the dark scapes

| Lots of Siberian Iris in bloom. Above China Spring makes a nice show with it’s light blue and pale blue contrasting blooms |
| The Siberian Iris when blooming en masse, are quite stunning. The shades of blue, purple, white and yellow contrast and accentuate beautifully. |
| Yesterday evening, I stumbled across this little fellow in the gardens. Fortunately my dogs know better than to mess with a porcupine. While I’m have mixed feelings about such creatures, I’m of the opinion of leaving everyone alone and letting them live their life. |
| I love to talk about serediptious landscaping. Here an old miniature hybrid growing on the edge of my bamboo patch is accented by Geranium himalayense. |
| We had a nice rain last night and so everything is a bit damp. Which of course gives Dante pause, as he’s not that keen on getting his paws wet. |
