Happy almost spring 2026?
Will spring ever come? I read that this is the longest stretch of snow on the ground since 2002. And we’ve have record cold too.
But as always the daylilies are safely sleeping under the snow.
I’m working on the 2026 catalog and it should be done by early-mid March.
If you’re receiving this email you are most likely on the list for a color print catalog.
However if you know someone that would like a catalog.  email me
I’m also working on a new website. It will essentially be the same as the old website, but with some new features (such as advanced search function).
Stay tuned!

While cold and snowy it is still quite picturesque! At least from inside!

The theme for the next few pictures is liquid water, something I haven’t seen outside in months.

Imagine water flowing through hoses and sprinkling green growing things!

Every year it becomes clearer that water is one of the key components of good daylily growth and bloom!

After daylilies are dug for mail order, they are soaked in large tubs of water. This helps loosen the dirt on the roots and optimally hydrates the plants before shipping. Daylilies can sit in water for a number of days. But they rarely sit in the tub for more than 24 hours during shipping season.

I need to be hydrated too. The little swimming hole down the road is perfect for a post dig day dip. On really hot days, I might even sneak off in the middle of the day for a quick dip. It’s amazing how much it reinvigorates me.

While there is nary a daylily in sight in this picture, I love the diversity of flowers. All are perennial. On the left, the purple plant is Ironweed (Vernonia sp). In the center Lobelia cardinalis, it’s rich red coloration carries from distance. And on the right Purple Coneflower.

I typically have some of these for sale at the nursery, but can possibly ship too.

And for those of you who are wondering about Dante. He’s living large! Here he asserts himself in his domain (my bed) You can always tell when Jack is nervous as he sticks his tongue out. But not to worry, I have a king size bed, so there is room for all,
